This is a fast growing strain that doesn’t mind warm weather. It fruits from 70-85 F. This species grows wonderfully when expanded to pasteurized straw. Also fruits abundantly on hardwood logs. It has a flavorful, nutty taste when sautéed until golden brown. The flavor is Reminiscent of Cashews. Yellow Oyster is also recognized medicinally as having strong cholesterol reducing properties, and is also thought to help emphysema. Consumption of this and other Oyster mushrooms produce Lovastatin, which decreases cholesterol.
